“I cannot recommend this activity more. I was a little skeptical due to the low ratings but this was well worth it! We rode with Peter who had so much knowledge on the local villages we passed on the way to Eger. I didn’t realize the town was basically the Hungarian Nappa Valley, a must see on our return visit. Peter was so kind and helpful. I would note, it may be helpful to have the Whats App to communicate before the host comes, it makes it easier to find out at the pickup location. And yes, bring towels or a bathrobe. The castle was lovely. This is a walking…”

The day includes a tasting of Egri Bikavér, with time for lunch and possible Egerszalók thermal baths. Confirm the meeting point and castle admissions before booking.

“The tour guyed was very good knowledgeable, but the tour not worth of the money. The wine tasting was excellent with a little tour in the cellar. The rest was rushing through of the town and the castle. We did not soak in the healing waters of Egerszalók. Just drive through it as we were late from what we do not know. We had a fast lunch at the Szépasszony-völgy valley, no time to look around. We would do better on our own without any tour.”

Guide Kinga has earned special praise, though events and museum openings can vary by date.

“The town of Holloko is completely charming. The people in beautiful ethnic costumes including many children made us feel we were in a magical world. We loved the performances of Hungarian dance from different regions of the country in traditional garb from those regions- accompanied by live music. There was delicious Hungarian food at many booths. The doll museum was wonderful. Our guide and driver took very good care of us. I’ve been traveling in Hungary and Austria for 8 days, and the day in Holloko is the highlight of my trip so far.Read more”
